 CLACSO Working Groups in “Pan African Unity or Perish: A call for the abolition of neocolonialism” convention

On day 2 of “Pan African Unity or Perish: A Call for the Abolition of Neocolonialism” Convention, were invited to participate: Karina Bidaseca, co-coordinator of the  Epistemologies of the South Working Group (CLACSO) and Rosa Campoalegre Septien, coordinator of the Working Group Afro-descendents and counter-hegemonic proposals (CLACSO) .  

This event was organized by the Africa Unity Movement for Decolonization. Its took place between July 21 and 23 and featured the participation of great thinkers from Latin America and the Caribbean as well as exponents of the social sciences and humanities from Africa and Europe. The CLACSO´s researchers held an conference entitled «Decolonizing History. The creation of the University of the African Diaspora beyond the Decade of Peoples of African Decendents» in which they recovered the legacy of great Afro-feminists thinkers such as Audre Lorde, Angela Davis and Lélia Gonzáles; Caribbean authors like Frantz Fanon and Édouard Glissant and the African Ubuntu principle: “I am because we are.”  In addition, they proposed as a decolonizing practice the creation of the University of the African Diaspora in 2020, which functions as a pedagogical space that hosts a multiplicity of training proposals. 

It is entrenched in ancestral knowledge, scientific-technological advances in various areas, as well as in the articulation between the academies and the Afro-descendant movement.  In addition, citing the great book “Sister outsider” (Audre Lorde), Bidaseca and Campoalegre emphasized “Without community there is no liberation” so “The master’s house is not dismantled with the master’s tools”, as an step for the celebration of love and brotherhood to found the sout-south international solidarity between peoples.
